Pink Arzilla: women’s football teams and more

The top women’s football teams for the 2024/2025 season are the Under-17 team, which plays in the national championship, and the First Team, which participates in the Marche regional excellence championship.

The First Team was born after more than ten years of planning and for us it was a very important goal, because it means being able to guarantee a little girl the chance to join the Pink Arzilla and continue her football career close to home, without having to move once she reaches a certain age.

Then there are the mixed teams, namely the Under 13 and Under 15, with boys and girls ranging from 2008 to 2011. They participate in the Under 13 and Under 15 men’s championships. The FIGC regulations up to that age allow mixed teams on the field and it is a rule that favours the work we do with the Mixed Team.

Latest results

One of the best successes we achieved was winning the Torneo Giovanile Città di Cattolica (Cattolica City Youth Tournament) in May 2024, in which we triumphed in the Rookies category, then Under 13, with the only mixed team in the entire event.

This result confirmed to us that the project is valid and that we are doing a good job. Another peak came in 2022/2023, when the Under 17 women’s team reached the inter-regional phase by winning the first regional phase. We played against Sassuolo, Cesena, Fiorentina, Jesina and AC Milan and it was really a great satisfaction. In the same season, the Under-15 team reached the playoffs with Chieti and the second regional phase.

In 2023/2024 the Under 17 women’s team did not qualify for the inter-regional phase, while the Under 15 team lost in the playoffs against Pescara and stopped at the inter-regional phase. The project is young and there is still a long way to go, but in the meantime we are proud of the results achieved!

The talent pool

Many girls have passed through our path and are now playing for other clubs:

  • Consuelo Di Maria now plays in the United States, where she is also studying thanks to a scholarship
  • Viola Volpini plays with Juventus and made her debut for the Under 15 and Under 17 Italian national teams

Then there are Francesca Barbaresi, Chiara Gambini, Francesca and Chiara Generali and Valentina Livi. Valentina’s is a beautiful, exciting story for us. She started at Arzilla shortly after me, then at the age of fourteen she had to leave, because at the time there was no possibility of continuing. Now, finally, thanks to the birth of the first team she has been able to return home, also because, like me, she is from Santa Maria dell’Arzilla.

Finally, some of our girls have been selected for the Regional Women’s Representative reserved for those who have turned sixteen and for the Under-15 Women’s Adriatic Representative, which includes the entire Adriatic strip.
